Dog Grooming Training - Case Studies

Case Study 1

I have recently completed a 20 day grooming course with Julie, and wow! What a journey. Not only does Julie welcome you in to her business but also into her home. The whole learning and working environment is warm, friendly and relaxing. The quality of julie’s teaching is to the highest of standard, as is both her personal and professional on going development within the dog grooming world. Her overall knowledge and experience is likened to an Aladin’s cave of the canine kind.

As impossible as it may sound Julie manages to pack all this and much more into a 20 day grooming course giving you an excellent foundation to either start developing your own grooming business or just happily grooming your own pets to a high quality, with a good solid knowledge of grooming and the world it belongs to.

I wouldn’t have any hesitation recommending Julie and the courses she offers. I would do the course all over again myself just for the pure enjoyment.

Case Study 2

Dougal the poodle, my 10 year old dog, was quite happy for Julie to clip him every 8 weeks but my husband and I were moving back to my home town in Dorset. I thought this was a great opportunity to learn the art of ‘blading’ and grooming him myself. Julie had just passed her grooming teacher qualification and was willing to instruct me.

I had never picked up a clipper in my life, but Julie was patient and guided my hand in the correct way over the dog so I learnt the gliding movement. There was plenty of time to ask questions throughout and her knowledge base and experience shone through with all questions adequately answered. There was also time to record notes during grooming.

By the time the session finished, I personally felt more confident and understood the basics of dog grooming. On reflection, I felt I needed further sessions to gain more confidence, so have booked another appointment with Julie prior to my move. Also astonishingly to me, Dougal himself was so very still and quiet, allowing me to groom him patiently, which was encouraging to know he trusted Julie and me.

I think Julie was an extremely knowledgeable, organised and an enthusiastic teacher, and the grooming sessions were fun and an experience enjoyed by all three of us.

I would certainly recommend any student to attend her courses in the future.

Case Study 3

I have two West Highland Terriers (Westies) and was grooming them and a few of my friend’s dogs but I knew I needed guidance. I found Just Dogs on the Internet and after reviewing the qualifications and speaking to Julie I knew I would be in good hands.

I have just completed a 5-day training course and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I have gained so much knowledge, tips and advice it was simply amazing. We progressed at my speed and I feel I achieved everything and in fact much more than I expected.

Julie is an excellent teacher, very natural, challenging but extremely supportive and encouraging.

The documentation received and set up is superb, with an extensive and very impressive client list, more importantly, the emphasis on the welfare of the dogs is apparent ~ it is a very peaceful and caring parlour.

Case Study 4

I went to do a one day taster dog grooming course with Julie. I really enjoyed it, and I got to bath some dogs and do a few other bits which was good as I thought that I might be just watching and asking questions.

I will be taking on a course later in the year with Julie. Julie herself is very nice and was really helpful and I think I will learn a lot from her and from the course that I will be taking on.

Case Study 5

"I have a very hairy black cocker spaniel and I find her coat unmanageable. I saw the Just Dogs Grooming School on the web and decided to go along for a five day course with Julie to see if I could learn how to manage the coat a bit better. I am so glad I did. I learnt so much and Julie was agreeable to me bathing and drying the dogs and watching her transform a scruffy coat into a beautiful specimen. Julie's tuition is very thorough; not only were procedures explained and demonstrated, but also the reasons for certain procedures. Julie made the day's work thoroughly interesting and enjoyable.

I was very impressed with Julie's attention to detail. In addition, the care and wellbeing of the dogs in her care is of the utmost importance at all times. She is not only an artist with the dogs' coats, it is obvious that they all love her.

I will be returning to update my knowledge base and this course has certainly given me an insight into dog grooming as a possible career."

Gina, Southampton.

Case Study 6

“After finding out that I was being made redundant from my current job, I was at a loss as to what path I should take! I found Julie on the internet and gave her a call. We chatted for ages and after deciding what would be best for me, I decided to take the (4 week) 20 day gold course. I am so glad I did this! It is a completely new career change for me, but Julie has given me so much confidence and knowledge of so many different breeds of dogs that I have now been able to go away and set up my own business. I will now be working towards becoming a qualified City and Guilds dog groomer. Thank you so much Julie.”
